If you’re about to add a new addition to your home, install a high-efficiency appliance, or are simply concerned about the functionality of your existing circuits, you should reach out to our licensed electricians. We offer electrical panel upgrades in Plymouth, MA, and across the South Shore to give homeowners like you the peace of mind that their homes are safe, efficient, and prepared for the future.

Beantown changed out a 12 year old water heater for a new one from the same manufacturer. Their two technicians, Ryan and Jay were very professional, skilled, helpful and calm throughout the project. The original exhaust pipes could not be re-used as codes had changed and the two service technicians had to creatively solve this problem. The resolution involved drilling a hole through the concrete4 foundation and exhausting the carbon monoxide into our courtyard. The job certainly took longer than they first anticipated, however, nevertheless Ryan and Jay remained pleasant, professional and upbeat. The price quoted stayed as the final price and the until is working perfectly. Great job.

We had a small leak in a copper pipe in the basement. Sean was thorough in identifying several pinpoint leaks in that pipe and how much of it actually needed to be replaced to prevent a more serious leak in the future. He also identified a couple of material options for replacing the pipe, explains the pros and cons of each. He was very courteous and professional. Did a nice job and we are very happy with the result.

Matthew was polite and professional. He quickly diagnosed the heat pump issue, then took the time to explain it to me. A little refrigerant later and we had heat. Just in time for the coldest days of the last three winters.

Booking online was super easy. I really appreciate the updates by email and text message.

When to Upgrade Your Home’s Electrical Panel

Many homeowners don’t think about their electrical service panel until problems arise, but being proactive can save you from future headaches, costly emergency repairs, and potentially hazardous situations. Make sure your outdated or undersized panel doesn’t limit your ability to use modern appliances or expand your living space by recognizing the signs it’s time for an electrical panel upgrade in Plymouth, MA.

Your Breakers Trip Frequently

A circuit breaker that trips occasionally is doing its job, protecting the circuit from an overload. However, if you find yourself constantly heading to the basement or garage to reset the same breaker, this could mean that the circuit is regularly drawing more power than it can safely handle.

You Still Have a Fuse Box

If your home was built before the 1960s, you might still have a fuse box instead of a modern circuit breaker panel. Fuse boxes were the standard for decades, but they are now considered obsolete and potentially dangerous. It’s also important to note that many insurance companies refuse to insure homes with fuse boxes or charge significantly higher premiums due to the increased fire risk. Therefore, upgrading to a circuit breaker panel is one of the most important home improvements you can make.

You’re Planning a Major Renovation or Addition

Are you adding a new master suite, finishing your basement, or undertaking a major kitchen remodel with new, high-end appliances? Any significant expansion of your living space or addition of major electrical appliances will inevitably increase your home’s power consumption. Our home electrical panel services in Plymouth, MA, will make sure your service panel has the capacity and space for the new circuits required.

You’re Installing High-Power Appliances

A new electric vehicle (EV) charger, central air conditioning system, hot tub, tankless water heater, or high-end oven can place a substantial load on your electrical system. Instead of hoping for the best, consider installing high-amperage circuits dedicated to these new appliances to prevent future complications.

Your Lights Flicker or Dim

Do your lights dim whenever you turn on the microwave or a vacuum cleaner? This is a common symptom of an overloaded electrical system. It means the panel is struggling to provide consistent power to all circuits simultaneously. You could benefit greatly from a circuit breaker replacement or a new panel installation.

You’re About to Sell Your House

Prospective buyers may be wary of a home with a fuse box or a low-amperage panel, seeing it as a potential safety hazard and an immediate, costly upgrade they will have to undertake. Proactively upgrading your electrical panel can increase your home’s value, make it more attractive to buyers, and help ensure a smoother, faster sale.

You Want to Install Solar Panels

Switching to solar power is a fantastic investment in your home’s energy efficiency. However, a solar panel system needs to connect to your home’s electrical panel to distribute the generated power correctly. A panel upgrade is often a prerequisite for a solar installation so that your system operates safely and meets all local utility and code requirements.

Circuit Breaker Installation & Replacement in Plymouth, MA

Our expert electricians at Beantown Home Services can assess your existing panel to determine if new circuit breakers can be safely added to your electrical panel. This is a common need when homeowners want to install a dedicated line for a new appliance, add outlets to a workshop, or run power to an outdoor shed. We can install standard, AFCI (arc fault circuit interrupter), or GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) breakers to enhance safety and meet modern electrical codes. We also offer circuit breaker replacement services in the South Shore for specific circuits that have worn out or become damaged.

Upgrade From a Fuse Box With the Help of Our South Shore Electricians

Moving from a fuse box to a modern circuit breaker panel is a significant leap forward in home safety. Unlike fuses, which must be replaced every time they blow, circuit breakers can simply be reset with the flip of a switch. More importantly, modern panels offer far superior protection. They are designed to handle higher electrical loads and incorporate advanced safety features like AFCI and GFCI protection, which are critical for preventing electrical fires and shocks.

Our electricians can seamlessly handle the entire conversion process. We will remove your old fuse box and install a new, code-compliant circuit breaker panel that will provide reliable power and peace of mind for years to come.

Upgrade to a 200 or 400-Amp Circuit Breaker

For many older homes in the Plymouth and the South Shore area, a 60 or 100-amp panel was once more than enough. Today, that’s rarely the case. The standard for most new homes is now a 200-amp service, which provides ample power for a typical family’s needs, including central air, electric ranges, and multiple computers and TVs. For larger homes or those with exceptional power demands (such as multiple EV chargers, electric heating systems, swimming pools, or extensive workshops), a 400-amp service may be necessary.

Beantown Home Services specializes in full electrical panel replacements in addition to upgrades. Our team will coordinate with your utility provider, secure the necessary permits, and install a new, high-capacity panel that can power your home safely and efficiently, now and in the future.
