Beantown changed out a 12 year old water heater for a new one from the same manufacturer. Their two technicians, Ryan and Jay were very professional, skilled, helpful and calm throughout the project. The original exhaust pipes could not be re-used as codes had changed and the two service technicians had to creatively solve this problem. The resolution involved drilling a hole through the concrete4 foundation and exhausting the carbon monoxide into our courtyard. The job certainly took longer than they first anticipated, however, nevertheless Ryan and Jay remained pleasant, professional and upbeat. The price quoted stayed as the final price and the until is working perfectly. Great job.

We had a small leak in a copper pipe in the basement. Sean was thorough in identifying several pinpoint leaks in that pipe and how much of it actually needed to be replaced to prevent a more serious leak in the future. He also identified a couple of material options for replacing the pipe, explains the pros and cons of each. He was very courteous and professional. Did a nice job and we are very happy with the result.

Matthew was polite and professional. He quickly diagnosed the heat pump issue, then took the time to explain it to me. A little refrigerant later and we had heat. Just in time for the coldest days of the last three winters.

Booking online was super easy. I really appreciate the updates by email and text message.

Is It Time to Call for an Electrical Repair?

Electrical issues often start small, but they rarely fix themselves. Knowing the signs of when to call for professional electrical repair services can save you both stress and money. So, watch out for these indicators that it’s time to bring in an electrician:

  • Frequent Circuit Breaker Trips: If your breaker keeps shutting off, it means your system is overloaded or there’s a wiring issue that needs professional attention.
  • Flickering or Dimming Lights: While sometimes caused by a faulty bulb, lights that consistently flicker or dim could signal loose wiring or a failing circuit.
  • Buzzing or Humming Noises: If you hear buzzing, humming, or crackling sounds coming from outlets, switches, or your electrical panel, get your system inspected by an electrical contractor as soon as possible.
  • Outlets and Switches That Are Warm to the Touch: This is a serious fire hazard and often indicates that there’s too much demand on the circuit or that the wiring is faulty.
  • A Burning Smell: Similarly, the scent of burning plastic or smoke near electrical components requires immediate professional service.
  • Sparks or Shocks: Any spark from an outlet when you plug or unplug a device, or a mild shock when you touch an appliance, is a clear sign of an electrical problem.

For older homes, we can provide complete rewiring services to bring your system up to code.

Simple Home Electrical Troubleshooting Tips to Try

Before calling a professional for electrical repair services in Plymouth, MA, there are a few simple steps you can take to troubleshoot a minor electrical issue:

  • Check the Circuit Breaker: The first step should be to check your home’s electrical panel. Look for a breaker that is in the “off” position or stuck in the middle. Flip it firmly to “off” and then back to “on” to reset it.
  • Test a Different Outlet: If an appliance won’t turn on, plug it into a different outlet that you know is working. This will help you determine if the problem is with the appliance or the original outlet.
  • Check GFCI Outlets: GFCI outlets, typically found near water sources, have “Test” and “Reset” buttons. If an outlet in your kitchen or bathroom isn’t working, press the “Reset” button. This often restores power to that outlet and others connected to it.
  • Replace the Lightbulb: For a light fixture that’s not working, try replacing the lightbulbs before assuming there’s a bigger issue.
